Sravakabhumi: Revised Sanskrit Text and Japanese Translation, The First Chapter

By Sravakabhumi Study Group, Tokyo 1998

The Sravakabhumi is the thirteenth section of the Yogacarabhumi of Asanga, a treasury of the Indian Hinayana and Mahayana Buddhist ideas. The only extant Sanskrit palm-leaf manuscript, currently preserved at the Tibet Museum in Lhasa, was reproduced as the form of a facsimile edition in 1994.

The Sravakabhumi Study group has been publishing 'Sravakabhumi Sanskrit Text with a Japanese Translation,' in the "Annual of the Institute for Comprehensive Studies of Buddhism, Taisho University" since 1981. Thanks to the facsimile edition of the Sravakabhumi, they could revise their works before 1991 when they obtained the copy of the edition. The present book, dealing with the first chapter (yogasthana), is the result of their revision.
